Rope Fails to Retract / Binds Up: Excessive hub wear or debris caught inside the pulley channel causes tilting and binding against the starter housing. Disassemble, clean, or replace the worn pulley.
Cracked Pulley or Damaged Drive Slots: High-impact recoil force or aggressive pulling can fracture the plastic drive slots, preventing starter pawls from engaging the flywheel. Replacement of the pulley is required.
